Niblet aka Big Man, Nibby-man, Sir Nibs-a-lot and Mr. Whiney-butt

Though not next in age, the next in acquisition order is Niblet. He has the most nicknames of all the kitties. He is called "Sir Nibs-a-lot", "Nibby", "Nibs", "Nibsmeister", "El Nibaloto" and, when he is meowing for attention at 4:30 in the morning, "Mr. Whiney-butt". Niblet was a pet store purchase a few weeks before Christmas of 2002. We didn't intend on getting a second cat when we went in (Dan and I were going to wait until we got in our new house), but he stole our hearts and it was just too hard to leave him there, stuck in the pet store. I am generally against buying pets at pet stores, I would much rather get one from the Humane Society. But once we took Nibby to the vet and found out how out of date his shots were and that he did not receive the level of care at the store that he should have, I was glad that we brought him home. He's the most laid back of our cats. The vet said that most male cats are like this. Female cats are the fussy ones. Based on our brood, I'd have to agree. I can literally hang Niblet upside-down and he just looks at me with a look of "Okay, what are we going to do next?" But for such a laid back fellow, he can certainly get in a lot of mischief. He loves to get on the kitchen counter and eat leftovers or try to get the last bit of water out of a glass. A few of my books had to get soaked before I learned to always put my water glass back in the sink or Nibby would end up turning it over while trying to drink out of it. But the trouble doesn't end there. He also is a straw-stealer (another reason to watch your cups) and enjoys taking naps up on top of the entertainment center or mantel place. But if we come in the room, he quickly hops down (usually knocking something over) because he knows he's not supposed to be up there. I have finally determined it is a lost cause to try and keep him off of tables and counters - after all, it is so cute when he jumps up on the bathroom counter every morning to visit with me while I am getting ready. Oh, and he usually ends up trying to drink my sink water, too. Nibby is also an international superstar. He was Cat of the Day on August 19, 2004. Want to see him?
